Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a surprising collaboration that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering free extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Disclosed
According to the official announcement, "A strange meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of forbidden rituals and terrifying transformations resonate through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret group.
The mission centers on "peculiar tests and a fearsome adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Transformations
The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a powerful sequence showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Additional Material
Players who finish the mission will receive an exclusive katana together with numerous items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Update
This patch also brings the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "The Mystery." This playful quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series formerly showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
